Area of interest= I have just formed an insulin pump support /learning/advocacy group called http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Canadian_insulin_pumpers/ for diabetics in Canada who are on the pump or are considering it and wish to learn more about it. I hope that together, members can offer each other support, and experienced pump users can help "newbies" learn about it and offer tips and tricks for success. For those thinking about switching from insulin injections, they can learn from others who have already gone through the process and know the ins and outs of insurance companies, the Canadian health care system, and much more. Last but not least it will be a place where we can find emotional support in a friendly atmosphere.

Area of interest: I have been pumping 15 years and upgraded to the Paradigm 511 Mar. 03. I would like to share with other pumpers that I have successfully obtained a full refund for the Paradigm 511 that I upgraded to in March. It stopped working properly in Aug. and I was sent a refurbished one. I contacted Medtronic and said I wanted a new pump. Then I received the "letter" from Medtronic re; Paradigm 511 and 512 that stated the Paradigms should not be worn in water as some of them had developed cracks and leaked water. These pumps were marketed as waterproof. The Canadian director was quiet upset with me when I said I wanted a waterproof pump, not the refurbished one they sent me or a new Paradigm 511 that he offered to send me. Please let interested pumpers know about this. Yours truly, Carol
