January 20, 2007

Insulin Pumpers Canada™, a registered Canadian charity, will be dissolving in the upcoming months and our website www.insulin-pumpers.ca will cease to exist.

It is important to note that although the registered charity Insulin Pumpers Canada will be dissolved in corporate, it does not mean that the many independent affiliates and support groups that we have networked with over the years will do the same. They are an integral part of the circle of health that begins and ends with the person with diabetes. Please take the time to get their contact information off our website before it is unavailable. Insulin Pumpers Canada is not 'ceasing to be' because its services are no longer needed; on the contrary. As a wholly volunteer group, we simply cannot maintain a quality standard of service, the upkeep of a national website, and the administration of a registered national charity. That old saying "too successful for your own good" has proven itself to be true.

We have no regrets. We've been blessed by the friendships and acquaintances we have developed over the years with people from all walks of life. In our quest to improve the lives of others, our own have been incredibly enriched. There are simply too many people to thank to address everyone personally in this letter, so a HUGE thank you for helping us achieve our goals and follow our vision is sent out to all of you!

Although Insulin Pumpers Canada, the charitable, corporate entity, will eventually no longer exist, what we have accomplished during our brief life will live on in eternity. As an organization we were on the front line of changing the lives of people with diabetes and connecting people from all walks and areas of life. We are very proud of what we have accomplished and like the ripples from the pebbles thrown into the proverbial pond, what we have put into motion will continue forever forward.

Most sincerely,

Barbara Chafe

NEWS! Please see the below note from Diabetes Advocacy in Canada:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! Thank you to everyone who wrote to the Ministers of Finance and National Revenue! Thank you for helping us make Recommendation 2.5 a reality! Last night's budget saw the Honorable Minister Ralph Goodale acknowledge the work of the Technical Advisory Committee and state that the government would be implementing most of the Tax Fairness Report's recommendations. Today I was told that Recommendation 2.5 was something that this government WILL be implementing!!!

We have won the war!!!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support! I am overwhelmed by this victory. Please join me in sending our thanks to the Ministers. We bombarded them with our request, now let us please show them our gratitude with letters of thanks. These can simply be addressed to Minister Goodale and Minister McCallum.

Thank you again! If you would like more detailed information on what this recommendation means, please email me and I will forward on details as they become available.

With gratitude to you all; Barb Marche
