Wednesday, March 16, 2005, Quinte Insulin Pumpers' membersÊgathered at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 516 Victoria Avenue, Belleville Ontario. Guest speaker Amy Simmins, diabetes consultant for BD Medical came to introduce the Link blood glucose monitor powered by BD Logic (TM) technology.Ê It is the first and onlyÊ(not for long though, Cozmo will have one available in the Spring) wireless system. It communicates with the Paradigm 512 or 712 insulin pump by automatically sending the test results to the pump for use with the Bolus Wizard (TM) calculator.Ê The monitor receives result in 5 second, requires only 0.3 uL of blood, stores up to 250 test results and can be downloaded to your computer (software required). It has optional memory features like 7 - day, 14 - day and time-specific averages to help track blood glucose results so that you can adjust your insulin more effectively. Amy had also brought us some BD Logic monitors. They are the same as the Link but without the wireless system. They are recommended as extras as they use (of course) the same BD (TM) test strips. For more information go to www.minimed.ca or click this linkÊfor direct access to the monitor page Êhttp://www.minimed.ca/ BDLinkLaunchStatus.aspxÊ( http://www.bddiabetes.com/ca/english/ ) Paradigm pump John Valks showed us his pump and all the calculations it can make.
