[June 14, 2005] I think the most important thing that can happen right now is for people in Manitoba to send the Provincial Minister of Health personal stories of either how the pump has changed their life or how hard it is for some people to obtain one even though their doctor has recommended it and that it is not financially possible due to the cost.
You can either email me the letter and I will forward it on or mail it directly to him. It needs to be addressed to:
The Honourable Minister of Health, Tim SaleMay 14th 2005, a petition to have the Manitoba Government cover Insulin Pumps will be circulated in Winnipeg at the Convention Centre. Please contact: ldpuwiebe@mts.net for more info.
Read the recent newspaper article about this Manitoba venture. (jpg format).
Today [04.13.05] my petition was read before the legislature, I listened to it through their web site. It was 1 of 4 petitions being read. Mine was the only one to get applauded!! I have been told that our NDP Government though is not very responsive to petitions. So I guess we will see what happens over the next few weeks as more petitions are read - Leah Wiebe
