Their response to our opening questions were wowing’ as a show of hands
indicated that more than 90% of them had patients on the pump. Another show of
hands indicated that an even higher percentage were aware of Insulin Pumpers
Canada. From that point on, we were pumped’ and primed.
We shared our experiences, dreams and schemes with this warm and receptive group
of professionals. The feedback we received was very positive, indicating to us
that our presence and the services we provide have a place in the diabetes
circle of chronic care. The Wagner chronic care model (See april 2004 DCPNS
newsletter) shows the benefit to the health care system of patients who are
prepared, proactive and supported.
We will strive to continue providing the services we do presently, and to
improve and grow by applying the input and experience we receive from both the
health care professional and the person with diabetes to future programs.
PUMP ON!
