Cape Breton Insulin Pumpers (Nova Scotia)

About us:

The idea actually began in 2003 after a chance phone call between two people who had never met; one an insulin dependent pumper and the other a mother of a 4 year old pumper. Both women felt there was a strong need for a support group for people who were using insulin pump therapy for themselves or their children.

After a few attempts, Cape Breton Insulin Pumpers, was finally set into motion in 2004 to provide a forum in the Cape Breton area for people with insulin dependent diabetes, people who were interested in insulin pump therapy and people who were already pumpers. We are all volunteers.

We are a drop-in group, consisting of pumpers and people who are thinking of getting pumps. We meet 6 times per year. Our meetings are very informative with invited speakers coming to talk on diabetic issues, especially those related to pumping. We also have an informal discussion time, where we exchange experiences, problems, solutions and emotional support. Anyone with an interest in insulin pumps is welcome to attend. There are no fees.
